About Tractor Barn

The Tractor Barn (5*Gold) is built upside-down with bedrooms downstairs and living area upstairs. There are three bedrooms (two doubles and one twin) and two bathrooms, the ensuite one having a bath as well as shower. Flooring is smooth grey Delabole slate in the hallway and warm carpeting in the bedrooms all with underfloor heating. A cast-iron spiral staircase connects to the living area which is open plan with a fully fitted NEFF kitchen at one end and French windows at the other which open onto a sun-deck and outside dining area. Flooring upstairs is warm oak with underfloor heating and there is a contemporary woodburner on an old millstone to provide extra warmth in winter. Two large rustic leather sofas and an armchair provide plenty of seating and the dining table with its church pew comfortably seats eight.
The garden is accessed through steps down from the kitchen and has a two tiered patio, one with a large teak dining table and the other with the HotSprings seven seater Pulse hot tub.

We had a great holiday, Tractor Barn was excellent providing everything we needed and the surroundings were gorgeous. Such a lovely setting in a beautiful valley with the river a short walk away. We enjoyed exploring all the areas surrounding including a boat trip at Plymouth, visited Fowey, spoilt ourselves with Rick Stein’s fish and chips in Padstow, explored Dartmoor and had the best cream tea at Lustleigh’s amazing Tea Rooms. We enjoyed relaxing at Tractor Barn and the great hot tub too. Highly recommend Elephant’s Nest Pub food and the local Farm Shop and Café called Strawberry Fields. Sylvia was very welcoming and helpful and makes great cake plus we enjoyed the eggs, wine and apple juice. We fully intend to come back again when we can!!
I’ve stayed here three times with my family and each time has been wonderful. We always get a warm welcome and the barn is always clean and well-kept. We stayed in the Tractor Barn each time and I’m extremely fond of it. The rooms and beds are really comfy and the wood fire upstairs is especially nice on a cold autumnal night. It isn’t far from places of interest and it has a really nice hot tub. Dogs are also welcome (our dog loves it).
We have just spent a wonderful half-term week at Tractor Barn. We loved the place – and Missy the dog enjoyed the freedom of the fields and the early morning swim in the river. Richard and Ute are wonderful hosts and have created a lovely country holiday experience. The quality of the accommodation can’t be faulted and there are nice little touches that make the barn a ‘home from home’. We enjoyed exploring this area of Devon/Cornwall and took in a number of National Trust attractions (Lydford Gorge was amazing), some horse riding across the moor, and some good local pubs. A lovely break and huge smiles all round.
Just returned from a 4 night new year break in Tractor Barn and had a fabulous time. The barn is one of the most comfortable places we’ve stayed in…beautifully renovated and really high spec. The owners, Richard and Ute, seem to have thought of everything. Even when the weather outside was really frosty, the barn was amazingly warm and cosy with a great log burner and underfloor heating throughout. We had a really warm welcome from the owners with fresh cake and wine and they saved the day by helping with our car trouble. Add that to the amazing hot tub (our son particularly enjoyed the lights!) and stunning views and we couldn’t have asked for more. Would definitely recommend the barns and hope to return at some point.
We spent the weekend in the gorgeous Tractor Barn, which is stylish and comfortable, and beautifully kitted out. 3 lovely bedrooms downstairs, with toasty underfloor heating and lovely bathrooms. The large and light open plan upstairs makes the most of the great views across the valley. The hot tub was a big hit with the girls – the weather was glorious but chilly, so sitting outside in the hot tub was a treat! Our dog Bou enjoyed walking down to the river for a paddle. The owners were very welcoming, and the welcome pack with delicious home made lemon drizzle cake (so good it lasted all of 2 minutes…) and own-label wine was a lovely touch. A great location for walkers – lots of beautiful walks within easy reach. Thank you Richard and Ute for a lovely weekend.
Honestly couldn’t want for a better home from home. Tractor barn is warm, cosy, clean, well furnished and equipped and in an ideal position to explore Devon and Cornwall. Sylvia was a wonderful host, meeting us on arrival and showing us how everything worked and where everything was. She had left a welcome pack of local wine, eggs from her own chickens, home-baked cake (which was delicious!), milk, tea, coffee, and treats for the dog! We also got to sample her home pressed apple juice which was lovely.
Despite not having the best weather, we still had a fabulous week. Visit recommendations include Tintagel Castle, White Lady Waterfall and Devil’s Cauldron and the Eden Project. Also wanted to give a particular recommendation for families to visit Hidden Valley Puzzle Park (20 mins away) which was a brilliant day out for adults and children alike. We also had a fabulous meal at the Springer Spaniel in Launceston.

Returned for a 4th visit to DCB for a 40th birthday, this time with the in laws and tractor barn provided plenty of room for the 6 of us.
Once again all the little details have been thought of, you only need to arrive with your bags (and food if you didn’t fancy the farm shop down 2 mins down the road)
Perfect rural location with such well maintained grounds and barns. We love it and the only downside is that the dog got rather upset when it was time to leave!

First stay in Tractor Barn! Even though we have stayed in other.barns on site we chose the tractor barn as it sleeps upto 6 people and we had family staying with us, this barn is amazing ( as are all the barns ) the layout give maximum room and also privacy we were 5 adults and never felt like we were cramped or ontop of each other.
The setting is so secluded and relaxing, I believe you wouldn’t find this anywhere else.
Sylvia and Christian the owners are so friendly and helpful, will give a full rundown on your chosen barn and will always pop down if asked, don’t think you could ever ask for a more friendly helpful host.
Would i visit again! Definitely without doubt, and can’t wait for next year for our next stay.
Thank you Sylvia

We stayed in the Tractor barn for 5 nights, 3 generations and a very happy dog, Sylvia is super helpful and friendly but not intrusive, there’s plenty of outside space for all ages and dogs to enjoy, the accommodation is of a really high standard, extremely clean and the extra touches of fresh flowers, eggs and homemade cake are really nice, treats and a ball for the very happy dog. This was our fourth visit and hopefully won’t be out last. The hot tub was fantastic, warm, clean and the perfect place to enjoy the peace and quiet along with the stars.

Sylvia was very welcoming from start to the end of stay. Booking the barn was very easy and the process was quick too. On arrival, we were very pleased with the appearance of the barn. Took a night to get use to being downstairs and the living room and kitchen was upstairs. Set up within the barn was beautiful and had excellent views from all windows. Kitchen area was well equipped from baking utensils to wine glasses for the use in the hot tub. Barn was not cold even though Storm Dennis hit us hard. Shame the weather waste bad to use the outdoor facilities. Location of the barns was near to the A30 and good driving distance to nearby towns. For local food shopping, a trip to Strawberry Fields Farm Shop is a must. We will be definitely returning back to the barns even if its two of us using Tractor barn. Thank you Sylvia for your hospitality.
