Guidance For Bringing Dogs
Dogs are welcome in all of the barns but you should notify us in advance if you have a very large breed (e.g. Dane, English Mastiff, Wolfhound etc.); we allow up to three dogs in each barn.
Dogs must be at least a year old as we often have a number of dogs on site and we like to make sure they are well socialised. On an exceptional basis we may take a younger dog but please speak with us first.
There is a charge of £35 per dog per stay with the exception of Flatcoated Retrievers who stay for free. If you are bringing a Flatcoat, don’t fill in the dog section on the booking form.
We are very happy for you to have your pet accompany you on holiday, but it is on the understanding that you adhere to our booking conditions relating to the acceptance of pets to our properties.
We hope that you will find our properties beautifully furnished and presented in an immaculately clean condition for you and we wish to keep them that way – otherwise they wouldn’t be ‘luxury’ cottages for very long.
Our high cleaning standards ensure that guests without dogs can confidently stay in our cottages without detecting doggie smells and doggie hairs. However, it would be almost impossible to maintain these high standards if our ‘house rules’ for dogs weren’t respected, so we appreciate your co-operation and respect for others staying after you.
Here are our house rules for pets:
Pets are permitted on furniture but only where you have brought sufficient blankets to fully cover them. Pets are NOT allowed on beds – even with covers applied
Pets are permitted in the bedrooms of our cottages but please make sure their bedding is sufficient to protect the carpets
If you wish to leave your pet unattended in a cottage, this is fine but please let us know
The interior and grounds of the property must be left in a clean, undamaged condition
Pets must be clean before entry to the cottage – there are hoses outside if you need them
Your pet must not be permitted to cause any kind of nuisance to the neighbouring properties
Your pet must be at least 1 year old at the time of your holiday. If you have a younger pup then you must call us first
Please don’t let them use the lawns as toilets or the grass will spoil.
Pets not used to free ranging chickens and ducks must be on a lead, especially on arrival!
There are two sets of kennels on the property and you are welcome to use either – they can be locked but you leave your dog there at your own risk. We regularly put our dogs in there when we can’t take them with us.
Feel free to bring your own dog crate if you wish. We can supply them and all you need to do is let us know what size you require.
There are often quite a lot of dogs about, especially down by the river. Take time to introduce yours gradually to avoid any confrontation or arguments over a tennis ball!
Feel free to walk in any of the fields and if your dog does their business there, don’t bother bagging it as the weather will generally take care of it.
The River Thrushell is at the bottom of the lower field and generally its fine for dogs to swim in. However after heavy or persistent rain it can flood quite quickly and become very fast flowing so please check it before letting your dog near it.
