About Cow Barn

The Cow Barn (4*Gold) has the largest garden of all the barns with steps up from the large patio to a grassy area and apple tree, ideal if you have a few dogs. The patio itself has a HotSprings Flair hot tub which comfortably seats six and enjoys the sun all afternoon and into the evening.
Up traditional stairs are two bedrooms, one double and one twin with a shared bathroom with bath and shower. Downstairs there is an entrance hallway, ideal for jackets and boots and drying a dog plus a WC. The main living/dining/kitchen are all in one room which has sandstone flooring and underfloor heating. The dining table comfortably seats four and the kitchen appliances include state of the art warming drawer and wall mounted coffee machine. The barn also has a woodburning stove.

You are greeted with wine, yummy cake and lovely flowers, milk and eggs! What more could you ask. Very clean! You wouldn’t know anyone had been there let alone just left!
Sylvia was exceptionally patient (trouble with TV! Totally my fault) and friendly. Nothing too much trouble.
It is a long time since I stayed in Cow Barn and if anything it has all improved!
Lovely walks around the Barns with a stream at the bottom of the nearest field much to Humphrey’s delight! Cannot add anything more – PERFECT in every way!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Cow Barn. The cottage is very cosy and comfortable, well equipped with everything you could possibly need and more. Lovely welcome packages for both us humans and our dog. We all appreciated the fabulous outdoor space, all enclosed and very dog friendly. Like a home from home – only more luxurious, making our holiday all the more special and very relaxing. We were sad to leave. Big thank you to Sylvia who was so friendly and welcoming. We highly recommend and would love to return.
We stayed in Cow Barn as a family of four plus one dog. We arrived later than expected, by which time Ute and Richard had unpacked our online grocery shopping and even taken delivery of a new mobile phone for my elder son. The barn was really well kitted out, with lots of extras you would normally expect to provide yourselves – for example, towels (for the bathroom and for the hot tub), toilet roll, hand soap, tea, coffee, even a good selection of DVDs for the DVD player. The setting for the barns is great, with surrounding fields all open for guests to explore. We particularly liked the large field with a picnic area adjacent to the river. We loved the hot tub and the very comfy beds! We did have a problem with the boiler midweek, but this was quickly resolved.
The location of the barns is good for exploring The north and the south coasts of Devon/Cornwall and for accessing Dartmoor. The barn was well stocked with leaflets and maps of places to visit nearby.
Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Devon Country Barns. Our dog was exhausted by all the exercise! but Ute assured us that this was normal! We would definitely recommend this place!
A much needed couple of days away was needed for my partner and I. The Cowbarn was perfect with heated flooring and every mod con right down to a great selection of Dvds. Ute offered a warm welcome and couldn’t do enough for us. Taking the dog was lovely and he had a great time.
The hot tub was incredibly, staying hot for ages and loads of towels were provided. We will be back.
Honestly, the most beautiful place! We’ve been coming here yearly for the last 5 years, in memory of my mother. Sylvia, is lovely, so friendly and chatty, she remembers the little things. A home away from home. Just perfect!

What’s not to like? The entertainment of the ‘mole patrol’ and the ‘chicken dinners’ (who were always on the look out for a little something to tide them over between meals), the peace and quiet of the beautiful Devon countryside, the comfort, the endless supply of eggs, the very drinkable white wine, the lovely flowers or the very warm welcome. They all contributed in their own way to a very relaxing and enjoyable stay and we hope to be back.

We stayed in cow barn in September 2024.
The barn was easy to find, great quiet location.
Clean, comfortable and with everything you need.
The outside space was perfect with a dining area, barbecue and hot tub.
The wider farm is open to guests there is a short walk down to the river with picnic benches and space for children to play..
